As the summer approaches, many of us are getting our bodies and skin ready for the warm weather. Wrinkles, acne scars, and hard-to-loose fat are common concerns. Most people shy away from botox and other “invasive” forms of cosmetic medicine, but there are alternatives!
Mesotherapy, for example, is a form of non-invasive cosmetic medicine originating in France. It’s been featured on shows such as 20/20, The Rachel Ray Show, and magazines such as NY times and Vogue. Basically mesotherapy involves injecting small amounts of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and/or medications that into the middle layer of the skin. This literally feeds the skin and collagen the nutrients it needs and helps in terms of wrinkles and skin health. A very short and thin needle is used – approximately the width of an eyelash!
It’s actually great for reducing the appearance for cellulite and fat loss (along with diet and exercise of course) as well. Often when patients loose weight, they will want to loose fat in specific areas of the body (e.g.: “spare tire” around the waist), and mesotherapy can help patients achieve weight loss in specific target regions (of course it must be accompanied with diet and exercise!).
When I talk to patients about anti-aging – a large focus goes onto diet, creams/lotions you’re using on your skin, and antioxidant intake. These are all preventative. Mesotherapy will help you if you are starting to get wrinkles and lines or just want your skin to glow!
